Step into the golden age of Roman art and uncover the drama, rivalry, and brilliance that gave the city its unmistakable Baroque beauty. This walking tour is a journey through the lives and works of two of Rome’s most iconic artists, Caravaggio and Bernini, whose masterpieces still shape the rhythm and soul of the city today.

Your experience begins in the grand Piazza del Popolo, where you’ll discover lesser-known works by both artists and hear the stories that breathe life into every detail. From there, stroll to the iconic Spanish Steps and learn how a young Bernini, alongside his father, left his mark on the piazza with a sculpted fountain that’s often admired but rarely understood.

Continue to the church of Sant’Andrea delle Fratte, home to two extraordinary Bernini angel sculptures originally created for Ponte Sant’Angelo. Just across the street stands the house where Bernini once lived—an unassuming building with a legacy as rich as his marble.

As you pass the Italian Parliament building, your guide will reveal tales of Caravaggio’s infamous temper, including a legendary brawl that took place nearby, before arriving at the church of San Luigi dei Francesi. Here, you’ll stand before Caravaggio’s dramatic series on the life and martyrdom of Saint Matthew, a masterclass in light, shadow, and storytelling.

The tour concludes in the breathtaking Piazza Navona, surrounded by Bernini’s sculptural genius and crowned by his Fountain of the Four Rivers. Here, you’ll hear the legendary tales of his fierce artistic rivalry with Borromini—a fitting finale to a tour steeped in passion, talent, and timeless beauty.
