This private tour begins in the grand Piazza del Popolo, where you will find several masterpieces from both Caravaggio and Bernini. From here, your expert, local guide will take you to the Spanish Steps of Piazza di Spagna, where you’ll have the opportunity to drink from one of Bernini’s famous fountains.
Your journey continues to the church of Sant’Andrea delle Fratte, home to two of Bernini’s angelic masterpieces, originally sculpted for the Ponte Sant’Angelo—Across the street from this illustrious church stands the house where Bernini once lived.
After a lovely promenade down Via di Pallacorda—the setting of Caravaggio’s most notorious bar fight—your guide will lead you to the church of Sant’Agostino and the church of San Luigi Francese, where some of Caravaggio’s earliest works are currently on display.
Your tour ends in Piazza Navona—arguably the most beautiful piazza in Rome. Piazza Navona is home to Berninin’s most famous fountain, the Fountain of the Four Rivers. Here, your guide will regale you with a dramatic account of one of Rome’s most legendary rivalries, that of Bernini and fellow architect Borromini.
As your tour draws to a close, we encourage you to ask your guide for restaurant recommendations, where to find the best gelato, or where to grab an aperitivo in this historic Roman neighborhood
