Your Mozzarella Farm extravaganza begins at a location of your choosing in Sorrento or Positano, where your driver will pick you up and take you to the quiet burgh of Schiazzano in Massa Lubrense, the location of Il Turuziello farm and their historic lemon grove.
Your first stop in Schiazzano is the lovely lemon grove, where you will learn the history and cultivation techniques of the Sorrento Lemon. Take a stroll among these fragrant lemon trees and discover why the lemons of the Sorrento peninsula are renowned for their flavor and aroma. As your tour of the lemon grove comes to end, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a glass of fresh-squeezed lemonade.
After your promenade among the lemon trees, your guide will usher you to Schiazzano Square. From here, you will be driven to Il Turuziello farm in a red, three-wheeled vehicle called an Ape Calessino, or what the locals cheekily refer to as a “Ferrari”.
At Il Turuziello farm, you will begin your experience with an olive oil tasting, followed by a mozzarella-making demonstration, where you will learn different ways that mozzarella can be prepared, such as mozzarella di fior di latte, caciottine, bocconcini, burrata, and Provolone del Monaco DOP. During the demonstration, you will have the opportunity to taste these fresh cheeses as they are being made, including a dessert of fresh ricotta paired with organic, seasonal jams and local wine. From here, you will be driven to the local, traditional pizzeria in the center of Schiazzano.
Once at the pizzeria, your guide and instructor will share with you their family’s recipe for the traditional Neapolitan Pizza Margherita. Here, you will prepare your own pizza using fresh, local ingredients, and send it off to the wood-fired oven for baking. After a few short minutes, it will be time to eat—buonappetito!
After a beautiful day of eating good food, drinking good wine, and sharing good company, you will be dropped off back at your original meeting point.
