In 1300CE, Pope Boniface VIII established the tradition of the Jubilee and inaugurated a pilgrimage to the four major basilicas of Rome—St. Peter’s Basilica (Basilica di San Pietro), the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls (Basilica di San Paolo fuori le Mura), the Basilica of St. Mary Major (Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore), and the Basilica of St. John Lateran (Basilica di San Giovanni Laterano). Join us for an opportunity to carry on the tradition of this sacred pilgrimage. This tour offers private transportation and exclusive access to the four major basilicas of Rome. From € 175.

This tour begins at St. Peter’s Basilica, where you will meet your expert, local guide. Once inside the basilica, your guide will discuss the artwork, sculptures, relics, and architectural designs that have graced this ancient, holy place for centuries. Here—and perhaps most importantly—you will find the shining, golden throne of St. Peter and the breathtaking altar under which his body is buried.

In a private vehicle, your journey will continue to the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, where the remains of St. Paul have been safeguarded since the first century CE. Here, you will have the opportunity to behold the very chains that bound St. Paul during his incarceration and subsequent house arrest.

From the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, it is a short drive to your next destination, the Basilica of St. John Lateran, or “The Cathedral of Rome”, where the skulls of St. Peter and St. Paul are vigilantly protected.

Your final destination on this tour is the Basilica of St. Mary Major—perhaps the oldest church in Rome dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Here, your guide will discuss this basilica’s magnificent, ancient history. Here, too, you will have the opportunity to see splinters of sycamore taken from the manger in which baby Jesus once lay.
